Physical Features of the Savanna Biome
The savanna is in the region closest to the equator (relative to other biomes) resulting in the warm temperatures. Generally from about 68 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer. Around winter it is generally from 60 to 78 degrees Fahrenheit.
Temperature relative to other biomes: hot
Rainfall relative to other biomes: less average rainfall than tropical rainforest, usually 20-50 inches per year

Primary types of vegetation:
-native, evergreen Eucalyptus trees
-mulga, a prolific scrub tree (Acacia aneura)
- Australias unique species of baobob tree (Adansonia gregorii)
General Charicteristics:
Savannas are expansive grasslands typically found in countries near the equator. They are scattered with shrubs and peculiar looking trees that have adapted to extreme weather cycles. Droughts, wildfires and destructive grazing by elephants keep all but a few species of trees from establishing. Even though savannas around the world appear similar, the predominant species of grasses and trees are unique to regional climates and conditions, particularly average temperature, annual rainfall and soil. The vegetation on a savanna can tolerate conditions that are inimical to many other plant species.
